New Year Goals

It’s a new year and, much like many people, we’ve been working on laying out the path for the future. We believe that 2017 has a lot of progress in store for us! As it is the offseason for most of the local peppers, there’s mostly internal research and planning currently happening. Our biggest focus going into the start of this new year is establishing our Kickstarter Campaign and working towards self-sustaining pepper production.
Kickstarter
One of the most exciting things for us this year will be the reveal of our Kickstarter campaign. We are looking at a late March to early April start. After a year-long testing and reworking of our line of sauces, we believe that we’ve landed on some great products. We can’t wait to share them with those that have missed out so far. The Kickstarter crowdsourcing is what we feel to be the best option to getting a bottle of our sauce into your hands.
The biggest obstacles we wanted to overcome before starting the Kickstarter Campaign was converting our fermented sauce to a more easily produced version. In our tinkering, we have developed 3 different non-fermented sauces that we absolutely love: 5 Pepper Medley, Ghost Pepper, and The Carolina Reaper. While we still will look to make our traditional fermented sauces but plan on focusing on the newer sauces. The newest collection allows for quicker turn around on production which will lower future cost through renting FDA approved facilities.
In the coming months, we’ve now got to focus on the key steps to our Kickstarter pre-launch. One of those steps will be the beginning of a fully encompassing social media presence. We’ve already been using our Facebook page to give you periodic updates, but will next be looking to expanding to Twitter and YouTube. Twitter will be used for quick updates and YouTube will primarily be used for Kickstarter video updates. Once they are ready to be utilized, we’ll be sure to share the information with everyone.

Project Green Thumb
One of the biggest things we wanted to work on this year was the cultivation of super-hot peppers. We’ve spent most of the off season searching alternative methods to traditional in soil growing. We’ve landed on the Dutch-Bucket system to move to trial growing. Below is an example of the system we are looking to implement.

We’ve been acquiring the supplies and hope to have a successful first trial. We don’t expect to have a large enough crop to fully supply any large-scale productions. Instead, we will look to continue to supplement our pepper supplies from local growers and markets.
Chipotle?
While most of our time will be working on both the Kickstarter Campaign and our pepper cultivation, we still plan to produce a couple small batch recipes. There’s still plenty of styles we’d like to experiment with; chipotle especially so. Test samples will be made available similarly to all our previous test batches.
As always, we appreciate your continued support! As more news becomes available, we will be sure to share! There’s a lot we plan on doing in this new year and we look forward to sharing our experiences with you all.
Thanks everyone!
